Living Jewel

It was a nice day out, a real scorcher, and so I was on the prowl for subjects. This little beauty feeding caught my eye at the edge of a farmer's field by the road. I'm sure my arse is considerably more well-known after this photo session of me crawling around with my bum in the air pointing at the traffic passing by. I care not a jot though, for the picture made me feel the effort was worth while (and my arse is worth showing off anyway, ahem). I think I'm starting to get well known for this kind of behaviour now as people don't look nearly as surprised or confused as they used to be.

The colours you can see in these iridescent insects are fascinating, like opal or maybe light reflecting in oil. They really are like little flying jewels.
